Temporary Residence

Temporary residence means permission for a foreign national to enter or stay in Canada for a limited period as a:

  • Visitor
  • International student
  • Temporary worker

Temporary residents must follow the conditions of their status and leave Canada or apply to extend their stay before their authorized period ends. Temporary residence does not provide permanent resident status.
